When it’s over …its over!

I have finally owned the fact that everything important I had to say about retirement has been said.  And so this is my last posting to this blog.  I’ll be starting a new one called “My Algarve” so if you are interested in learning about this delightful corner of the globe, check it out.

Here are a couple of final observations I have about ‘the retirement conversation’.  First, I’ve come to the conclusion that there is no way to adequately prepare for the end of a life-long career, whether you plan a perpetual weekend for yourself or are creating a new type of work.  You have to be done with what you have been doing for a while before a new possible future begins to present itself.

Second, don’t expect that any life issues you’ve struggled with all these years is suddenly going to disappear when you leave your job.
